Privacy statement

Version effective from:

dauto.ch makes official Swiss vehicle data freely searchable. This statement describes what personal data arises, why it is processed and what rights you have. Swiss data protection law (FADP) applies.

In short: you can use all of dauto.ch without registering and without giving us any data. There is no user account, no newsletter, nothing for sale and no payment processing.

1. Controller

The controller for the processing of personal data on dauto.ch is:

dauto – Way Better GmbH (Datenschutz), Chalcheren 2, CH-8484 Weisslingen

E-mail: [email protected]

2. What data arises

When you open a page, your browser transmits technical information required to deliver it, which is recorded in server logs: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the referrer, and browser and operating-system details.

Cookies and similar technologies are also used — small files stored on your device. They serve reach measurement (section 3) and the delivery of advertising (section 4). You can restrict or prevent their storage in your browser settings; some functions may then be limited.

We collect no other personal data from you: there is no registration, no customer account, no ordering, no newsletter and no payment processing. Nor do we buy data from third parties to enrich anything.

3. Reach measurement with Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, to analyse use of the website statistically and improve it. Cookies are used for this; the information collected (including a truncated IP address, pages viewed, approximate region and device type) is transmitted to and processed by Google.

Reach measurement is a purpose separate from advertising. Consent to advertising cookies is not consent to reach measurement, and vice versa.

4. Advertising with Google AdSense

This website uses Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited, to display advertisements. The ads are served by Google, and Google chooses the particular ad.

Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites. Information such as IP address, device identifiers and interaction data may be transmitted to Google.

You can switch off or manage personalised advertising at any time. Advertising as such does not stop — the ads simply stop being tailored to you:

5. Consent

Where required, consent is obtained for advertising and measurement cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future; the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand is unaffected.

6. Disclosure to third parties

Personal data is disclosed only as far as necessary to operate the website (in particular to the services named in sections 3 and 4 and to our hosting and CDN providers), where we are legally obliged to do so, where an authority or court orders it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights.

We do not sell personal data.

7. Transfer abroad

The services named may process data outside Switzerland, in particular in the EU and the USA. Where processing takes place in a country without adequate protection, we rely on the safeguards provided for, in particular standard contractual clauses.

8. Legal basis

We process personal data on the basis of Swiss data protection law. Server logs rest on our overriding interest in the secure and stable operation of the website; measurement and advertising cookies rest on your consent where consent is required.

9. Retention

We keep data only as long as necessary for the relevant purpose or as long as a legal obligation requires. For data processed by Google, Google’s own retention information applies.

10. Your rights

Within the limits of applicable law you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction and release of your personal data, and the right to object to processing and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to the competent supervisory authority; in Switzerland this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Please send an access request in writing to dauto – Way Better GmbH (Datenschutz), Chalcheren 2, CH-8484 Weisslingen, or by e-mail to [email protected]. Please enclose a copy of an official identity document so we can identify you. We reply within the statutory period.

Note: dauto.ch publishes official vehicle and type-approval data. That data describes vehicle types and configurations, not you as a person. An access or erasure request under this section concerns your own data arising from your use of the website — not the database itself.

12. Changes

We may adapt this statement if the website or the legal framework changes. The version published on this page is the one that applies; its effective date appears at the top.
