Terms of use and disclaimer

Version effective from:

The important part first: dauto.ch gives no warranty that the data shown is accurate, complete or current, and accepts no liability for decisions you base on it. For binding information, contact FEDRO or your cantonal road traffic office.

1. Scope

These terms govern use of the website dauto.ch, operated by dauto – Way Better GmbH (Datenschutz), Chalcheren 2, CH-8484 Weisslingen. By using the site you accept them.

2. What the service is

dauto.ch makes publicly available Swiss vehicle and type-approval data searchable and presents it in structured form. It is an information service. It is neither an official statement nor a register, and it creates no rights in any vehicle.

3. Use

Use is free of charge and requires no registration. Conduct that impairs operation is prohibited — in particular automated extraction on a scale that degrades availability for other users, and attempts to circumvent security measures.

4. No warranty as to the data

The data shown comes from official sources and is processed to the best of our knowledge. We do not, however, warrant that it is accurate, complete or current.

This is not a formality. Official datasets contain gaps, stale entries and errors; sources change their structure; individual fields are undocumented at source and are reproduced unchanged. An entry on dauto.ch therefore never replaces inspecting the actual vehicle and its official papers.

Do not make a purchase, import, conversion or registration decision on the strength of an entry on this website alone. The vehicle documents and the competent authority’s information are what count.

5. Liability

We are not liable for damage arising from the use or unavailability of this website, or from reliance on the data shown — in particular not for lost profit, consequential loss or pure financial loss.

Liability for personal injury and for unlawful intent and gross negligence is not excluded; such an exclusion would in any event be ineffective under mandatory Swiss law.

6. Links and third-party content

This website links to third-party websites and embeds third-party services (see the privacy statement). Their operators alone are responsible for their content, availability and data processing.

7. Rights in the content

The underlying official data is subject to the terms of its source (see the "Data sources" page). The processing, presentation, text and design of this website are protected by copyright. Reproduction on a significant scale requires our consent; citation with attribution is welcome.

8. Changes and availability

We may change, restrict or discontinue the service at any time and adapt these terms. There is no entitlement to availability or to the continuation of particular features.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

Swiss law applies exclusively, to the exclusion of its conflict-of-laws rules. The place of jurisdiction is, so far as the law permits, the operator’s registered seat.
