What is the difference between WLTP and NEDC?

The NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) was the EU measurement cycle in force until the mid-2010s. It was considered unrealistic because it produced low consumption values that were barely achievable in everyday use.
The WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure, EU Regulation 2017/1151) replaces the NEDC: it uses more dynamic driving profiles, higher speeds and more realistic conditions and applies since September 2017 to new type approvals, respectively since September 2018 to all newly registered passenger cars. WLTP CO₂ values are typically higher than the earlier NEDC values.
In the current ASTRA data (eCoC / electronic data sheet), CO₂ and consumption values are kept according to WLTP, with an additional weighted value for hybrids.
